The carnage is surreal
Half-eaten treats
Forgotten sweets
Shiny wrappings
And sheets flapping
All left behind by drunken children in the night
Sharp axes
Rickety bones
Cracked skulls
And ghostly groans
All left behind by marching children in the night
Broken toys
Menacing masks
Bloody gloves
And bleeding doves
All left behind by long-gone children in the night
Shrug it off
Trick your mind
It’s just pretend
Turn your eyes blind
Keep the festivities going
Celebrate the dead
Forget the living
O Candy bomber drop your peace
Children are begging on their knees
O God of mercy open heaven’s door
Children are dropping more and more
The carnage is real
It is real
