Letter to my children's school as we face school closure once again

Dear [Principal],

I hope you are well. 

I just wanted to send a quick note as we witness a new wave of Covid 19 cases. 

None of the restrictive mandates made any difference to the epidemic curve, hospitalisations or deaths.

400 references do not support mandates for the management of the pandemic

75 references do not support school closure

150 references do not support mask mandates in the general public

140 references confirm that natural immunity is protective against serious disease upon reinfection and do not support vaccine mandates

39 studies documenting waning vaccine induced-immunity and again do not support vaccine mandates

Omicron is a very mild variant, akin to other common cold viruses. It is highly infectious. Everyone will get it. No matter how many plexiglass separators or stickers we put on the floor or layers of masks we wear, or tests we take, the virus spreads through aerosols in the air and nothing can stop it. 

The good news is that It may be acting as a natural vaccine protecting individuals against other more virulent variants, safely. The other good news is that we have an abundance of treatments to protect the vulnerable.

The best recommendation to follow is the 1950’s recommendation: stay home while symptomatic, go back to school when symptoms end. 

After almost 2 years of harm to our children as a result of unscientific measures, let us all reflect on whether we should keep on sacrificing the children’s well-being and future in vain. School closure harms children. 

[The education department'] is cc’d on this email as I believe it is vital for decision-makers who are making decisions that impact children’s lives so pervasively to be well informed.
